Legacy Roots and Music was a Learning and Participation Project about Black Music; its past, present and future. The Project involved young people from South Liverpool who were either interested in making and performing music, or interested in working in Event Management or Music Production. just click here to see all the amazing images form the project showcases with the legendary Yellowman and Nneka.
During this three month Project the group first had to trace the roots of the Music they listen to today and learn how Black Music arrived in Liverpool. Their research included sessions with local Historians and visiting Liverpool’s Museums. They also took part in a series of workshops and seminars hosted by key figures working in Black Music of all genres. Finally they created, produced and performed their very own Song ‘Legacy’ and showcased their talents supporting Jamaican Reggae Superstar ‘Yellowman’ and 2009 MOBO award winner Nneka at The Picket in Liverpool, alongside local Artists Janiece Myers and KOF.
This project was designed for all the young artists who participated, to learn, be inspired and grow, in order to go on to create their own Legacy!
