Went to the first date of Calypso Rose's tour last night - highly recommended!

Deliciously witty and exuding genuine warmth, I belly laughed throughout her entire set - it's a short tour so make sure you don't miss her.

Playing only with an acoustic guitar - a first in her 55 year career! - she delved into her back catalogue of over 800 songs in the intimate setting of London's Vortex.

Support came from steel pan player Norman Stewart, who was a collaborator in our Kaiso and Steel tour in March.  He delicately played through, among others, renditions of Calypso trad favourites like Yellow Bird - took me back to the first record I ever owned - Russ Henderson and his Caribbean Boys - Caribbean Calypso - bought for less than 10p and still a favourite - search it out!
